Announcement #6

Hey Everyone!

It's been a rough few months, I hope everyone is doing okay and staying safe whilst riding out this horrific global pandemic. A lot of us are going through so much during this extremely difficult time, whether that be financial or simply not being able to connect with friends and family, we are all in this together and before we know it things will return to (somewhat) normal.

I'd also like to take a moment to thank those that have donated funds towards server costs. Although we are not yet live, we do still have expenses such as web hosting, licensing, development server hosting, and so on. All of these payments have been coming out of pocket, so thank you to those of you who have donated any amount to our project. Everything helps and it is greatly appreciated.

Pressing on, as you are all aware we are making a great effort to be as transparent as possible with development updates, and are pushing for frequent community updates with how we are progressing as a whole. Something we have not addressed or showcased much of so far is our User Control Panel. The User Control Panel is a web based control panel connected to our game server with multiple purposes such as;
  • Applying to the server and upon acceptance of an application being white listed allowing the player to connect and play on Los Santos County
  • Managing character information such as cash on hand/bank, player owned vehicles, player owned properties, player owned businesses
  • Managing Official factions, their members and rankings
  • Managing player donations and respective perks
  • A ticket support system, allowing players to create tickets for issues requiring staff assistance.
  • Many, many more...
Our plan is to have the User Control Panel out within the next few weeks to allow players to submit their applications early, giving staff adequate time to handle them prior to our server launch, giving you guys the opportunity to log in and create your character, being able to play the day of launch without any wait!



Development Update
First and foremost, we would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the project in any way, whether that be through signing up, being present in discord, posting suggestions, donating etc. Without you guys, we wouldn’t be where we are today.

We’ve shown off a few teasers in the past announcement, but we don’t think that justifies the entire project itself. We believe that videos showcase our work more than pictures do. Let’s recap what’s been done thus far since our last development post;

Character Creator:
As stated in the previous announcement, we were working on the character creator and we’ve finally completed it. The character creator is fully functional and now you can create your character with all the customization you possibly want. We’ve received some feedback on this teaser and we’ll be fixing the torso issue as it was everyone's main concern. We promised in the last announcement there would be a teaser and there was but you can view it again below.


Death System:
As we previously explained there are three states to the death system which are knocked out, brutally wounded, and player killed. The knockout state essentially means you were in a fistfight or hit with brass knuckles in which anyone can help you get up. The brutally wounded state essentially means you weren’t hit by anything that classifies as a knockout when you're brutally wounded you will have 300 seconds to receive medical treatment unless you’re finished off by someone. Below you can find a video of the death system.


Property System:
The property system is quite simple and we’ll keep it that way for quite some time. It’s similar to the old one that we’ve previously showcased but it has changed drastically in terms of coding aspect. The system allows for properties to be created inside another, so for an example, an apartment complex with apartments inside can be created. One interesting fact is that there will not be any limitations on how many properties you can purchase, as you progress your character having multiple properties wouldn’t be an issue.

Business System:
As for businesses, we want to ensure that anyone is capable of purchasing and handling businesses. With that being said, we will allow business owners to set a reasonable fixed entry fee which will act as revenue; this revenue will directly be sent over to the business bank account in which the owner can withdraw or deposit money into. The purpose of the business system is to allow owners of a business to have the player to player interaction and be encouraged to create roleplay in their establishment. Moreover, competition between other businesses will be encouraged as the revenue of the business will be factored in by the activity, meaning advertisements and other useful means of gaining popularity will be beneficial.

Future Expectations:
We have many features and updates that we’ve been planning to be added in the future, but one system that we do plan on implementing would be for jobs having a heavy emphasis between player to player interaction. This not only increases roleplay in a general sense but it also creates more scenarios and situations that many community members can facilitate and participate in. These player-to-player jobs will overall increase roleplay and create new opportunities for anyone to increase their character development.


Mapping Update from @Psychedelic
It’s exciting times for mapping at the moment. Advances in Alt:V development means that there’s a range of new objects, increased object streaming limits, and higher mapping capabilities. This, of course, means a higher level of immersion though custom maps. Currently, we are working on getting a court house interior finalized. There’s a few little bugs that have been popping up, but LS County is working closely with modelling experts, alongside the Alt:V development team to make sure that these bugs are squashed. Property Management from @Topaz
Property Management has recently experienced new changes due to the resignation from @Fox. I, Topaz, have taken the position as head of Property Management and will continue the work of Fox. Fox and I constructed the current planned economy, and I will continue bouncing ideas off of him for the general good of the server. Property Management will continue on the same path it was left on as we approach server release. In the upcoming weeks, Property Management will be publishing finalized articles about the server's economy for the general public's critique and ideas. Just like the server, players are our number one priority, having their voice heard in such discussions is important. We welcome any suggestions concerning the economy and the ways it could improve overall roleplay. Thank you; stay safe!

Congratulations to those who were selected as well as those promoted! For those that were not selected, we thank you for your interest, multiple factors come into play when we are reviewing applications such as time spent with the community, interaction within the community, and effort put forth in your application itself. Do not feel discouraged from reapplying in the future! New Testers are asked to contact a member of Management to be added to their new roles.

Now! For the question everyone is asking. When are we launching? Do we have a set launch date yet? In short, no, we do not have a definitive date yet. I understand everyone's eager to log in and play, as are we! We are actively working on the script with huge thanks to @Zeebs and @Bradley who have been putting in long tiring back to back days. As much as we would love to slap a date out, as we have been saying since day one; we are not going to release a broken server with bugs and glitches. We are still aiming for a late June / early July launch but this is still by no means a promise, quality assurance comes first.

Keep your head up, my boy. "We are still aiming for a late June / early July launch but this is still by no means a promise, quality assurance comes first."

This is some good progress I see here. I'm especially in love with the UI.

Thanks to @Bradley and @Ze for putting in much of their valuable time to keep pushing onward. Also I never knew Psychedelic is such a skilled mapper. Great stuff all in all. Getting in-game will be fun!
